Please consult the list of available mobile procedures and general
guidelines below in order to maximize preparedness:
Abdominal Ultrasound
Shaving is necessary in most cases. Bladder must be full when investigating
urinary tract disease.
Thoracic Ultrasound
Shaving is necessary in most cases.
Echocardiogram
Shaving is necessary in most cases.
Color-flow Doppler
Shaving is necessary in most cases.
Ocular Ultrasound
Sedation may be required.
Interventional Ultrasound
Fees are in addition to diagnostic ultrasound fees.
Tru-cut Tissue Biopsy, Ultrasound Guided
Sedation is always required. A coagulation profile is strongly
recommended. Must have formaldehyde jars and tissue glue in hospital.
Please note that patients undergoing liver biopsies should be fed
a small meal 1 hr before the procedure in order to contract the
gallbladder.
Fine Needle Aspirate, Ultrasound Guided
Sedation may be required.
Pericardiocentesis, Ultrasound Guided
Sedation is seldom required.
Thoracocentesis, Ultrasound Guided
Sedation is seldom required.
Endoscopic Procedures
All endoscopic procedures require general anesthesia. Induction,
intubation and anesthesia monitoring will be performed by your staff.
Must have mouth gag.
Upper GI Endoscopy with biopsies
No food 12 hours before the procedure.
Colonoscopy & Proctoscopy with biopsies
No food 24 hours before the procedure. Give warm water enemas at
least three times @ 12-6-3 hours before the procedure (10-15 ml/Kg).
Gastric/Esophageal Foreign Body Retrieval
No barium if possible.
Gastrostomy Tube Placement
No food 18 hours before the procedure. Must have catheter-tip syringe
for feeding.
Esophagostomy Tube Placement
Only available for cats.
Bronchoscopy and Bronchoalveolar Lavage
Retroflex Pharyngoscopy & Rhinoscopy with biopsies
A coagulation profile is required.
Bone Marrow Aspirate
Sedation is always required. A coagulation profile is strongly
recommended.
Bone Marrow Core Biopsy
Sedation is always required. A coagulation profile is strongly
recommended.
Arthrocentesis
Sedation is always required. Sampling includes 4-6 joints.
